Manisha Koirala was born on August 16th 1970 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Her grandfather was the Prime Minister of Nepal. Manisha did her schooling in Army Public School in Delhi. She also; was fond of Indian classical dances. Manisha was given her first break by Showman Subash Ghai in 'Saudagar' in 1991; in the movie Manisha got an opportunity to share the frame with stalwarts like Dilip Kumar and Raj Kumar.

Manisha was often compared to Madhuri Dixit which did not make the actress quite happy about herself. After making an amazing debut, Manisha shot to fame with Vidhu Vinod Chopra's '1942-A Love Story'. Manisha has had a very successful career as an actress as she has given some big hits like 'Bombay', 'Agni Sakshi', 'Khamoshi', 'Gupt' and 'Dil Se'.

Manisha Koirala got romantically involved with her co-star Nana Patekar during the making of 'Agni Sakshi', but the relationship didn't last long.

Manisha Koirala's career had a downslide due to obesity and drinking problems. In 2002, Manisha enraged the audiences with her bold movie 'Ek Chotsi Love Story'. Manisha did make an impression with her roles in 'Company' and 'Lajja' and now the actress is all set to make a comeback not as a lead actress but with more substantial characters in some of the biggest Bollywood movies. Manisha has always managed to work with big banners as she is regarded as one of the most talented actresses in the business.
